Restored Stanwood Hotel Haunted?
Is the newly restored Stanwood (Washington) hotel haunted? An EVP taken by Northwest Paranormal Research Group picked up the faint sounds of children's voices in the main hall of the hotel. Employees tell stories of paranormal happenings as well.
Read about the investigations, see photos and listen to EVPs from NWPRG. It's fascinating!
Read the article in the Everett Herald.
If anyone has stayed there, I'd love to hear about the experience. I, for one, would love to stay overnight in a haunted hotel...as long as the ghosts were nice.

Anne Rice on Werewolves, Ghosts, Vampires and Aliens
Check out this in depth Wired interview with author Anne Rice, who has a new book out called The Wolf Gift. Here's a little about what she has to say about ghosts:
I’m trying to figure out what it is people see when they see a ghost. We’ve got piles of testimony from the world over that people see ghosts, that they see spirits. And it would be foolish, I think, to dismiss all that testimony. They see something. So I’m asking myself, what is it that they see?You can read the whole article here.

The Night My Grandmother Passed Away
My beloved Grandmother passed away when I was 12...she was my best
friend, I loved her more than anyone in this world. This is how I
remember that night:
Very
late one night while we were all sleeping, the phone rang. It woke me
up and I remember sitting up in bed feeling kinda worried, because the
phone never rang late at night. Then I heard my Mom cry...I leaped out
of bed to see what was wrong and ran into my Dad. He told me to get
dressed that something was wrong with Grandma and we needed to get there
right away. So, I did. All the while thinking, hoping...praying
that she was all right, because Grandma was my very best friend. She
just had to be all right!
Dad loaded us into the red station-wagon...Mom, myself and my little sister and brother...and we drove very fast to Grandma and Grandpas house. Mom got out of the car and ran up the steps to the house and I started to follow her, but Dad stopped me and made me stay in the car with by brother and sister. I didn't understand, I wanted to see Grandma and make sure she was ok! But Dad was already gone with Mom, I couldn't even argue with him.

I didn't understand, I wanted to see Grandma and make sure she was ok! But Dad was already gone with Mom, I couldn't even argue with him.
A few minutes later they came back
to the car and Mom was crying really hard. I was scared. Dad said that
they think Grandma had a heart attack and passed away and that they'd
taken her away to the hospital. I started to cry and said I wanted to
see her and he told me I couldn't...that he was taking us over to leave us with our cousins for a while so that Mom and her sisters
could go to the hospital and talk with Grandpa.
I just sat back in my
seat and cried. Grandma was dead, my very best friend in this whole
wide world
was dead....my heart was broken. I was only 12 years old, this was my
first experience with death. I didn't really understand it or know what
to expect. I only knew Grandma was gone and I was sad.
By the time we
got to my cousins house I was a real mess, tears running down my face,
nose running too...I just couldn't stop crying.,,,almost at that
hiccuping point. Dad gave me a hug and told me to try to calm down
before I made myself sick and then he had to get back to the car and
Mom.
I was so sad and thinking about how much I was going to miss my
beloved Grandma, my best friend, when my cousin Cathy told me to go into
the bathroom and wash my face...that it would make me feel better.
Whatever. But I did what I was told.
I grabbed a washcloth from the
linen closet and headed into the bathroom sniffling. I tuned on the
water at the sink and wet the washcloth and looked up into the
mirror...and
froze. It wasn't my face reflected back at me...it was Grandma! I
didn't have time to react or call out for anyone...she just looked at me
and smiled then nodded her head as though she were telling me that
'everything was ok' and then she was gone.
And though I was still
sad...I was also filled with peace. 'Cause we shared something special
and even her death couldn't stop her from reaching out to me one more
time. Grandma was ok...and she'd come to tell ME goodbye.
God,
I love that woman and still miss her today! The crazy thing is
everyone tells me I look just like her, so the older I get, the more my
reflection begins to look just like the one I saw in the mirror that
night she came to say goodbye.

My Paranormal Experience by Kelly Mueller
In the front room of my childhood house there was a door that lead to
landing that then went to either the upstairs bedroom or out to the
garage. I was about 8 ish when my parents left me and my little sister
home with the babysitter, only the 3 of us.
We were watching a movie, when we heard the door from the garage open and footsteps going up the stairs. At first we thought that maybe my parents come home early. After looking outside and see there was no car we get a little worried. So we slowly opened the door from the living room and said “Hello”. I know classic horror movie no, no!! No one answered.
We looked at the door going to the garage and it was still locked from the inside. So we made sure that the outside garage door was closed and locked, thinking it might have been one of my babysitter’s friends, of course it was. Then re-locked the inside door that went out to the garage then lastly locked the inside door.
About 10 minutes after we locked all the doors we heard footsteps coming down the stairs the door open and then close again. Than just a few minutes later we heard the door open and slam close then footsteps go back up the stairs. When we heard the footsteps moving around the upstairs bedroom we all freaked out. We ended up running out of the house and going across the street to where my babysitter lived.
After telling her parents what happened, they told us that before we had moved in there was a very grumpy old couple that lived in the house. Both had passed away in the house. I am convinced that the footsteps had to been the old man of the house, he was not very fond of kids. We continued to hear those footsteps all the time. Even after we remodeled the house and moved the stairs we still heard the footsteps.
Thank you for letting me share my paranormal experience with you. I know it is not very scary but at 8 years old I was scared to death.

My Cousin and the Ghost by Janna
About twenty years ago my cousin and her boyfriend were driving home
from a party. My cousin lived out in the country so they were traveling
on a gravel road surrounded by various farmers fields.
As they were driving, they noticed the taillights of a vehicle in the ditch a little up the road. They pulled over and got out of the truck and walked over to the accident. The driver of the vehicle must have lost control on the gravel and crashed into a fence pole. As my cousin approached, she noticed that the entire windshield had been completely smashed and that the drivers seat was empty. It was an old truck that did not have airbags which meant the driver was most likely catapulted through the windshield. My cousin, who was a nurse, and her boyfriend then followed the trail that the headlights blazed through the field to see if they could find the driver. Sure enough, they stumbled upon him a good 20 feet from the truck.
He was in terrible shape. The trauma from having been thrown through the windshield did severe damage to his skull and face as well as tearing his entire torso apart. The boyfriend agreed to get back into his truck and drive to get help (no cells back then). My cousin stayed to try and comfort the driver all the while knowing from her nursing experience that he was not going to make it. She sat down beside him and placed his head in her lap and proceeded to tell him about her evening. She explained the party and who was there, who drank too much etc., She stroked what was left of his hair back from his destroyed face and held his hand just to try and provide any comfort that she could.
By the time the boyfriend returned, the driver had passed and was taken to the hospital as a DOA.
Unable to sleep later that night, my cousin got up to get herself a glass of water. She entered the kitchen and grabbed a glass from the cabinet, walked over to the sink to fill it and looked out the kitchen window. Having done this several times before, she normally would be able to see the reflection of the clock from the microwave in the window. She couldn't see it. Turning very slowly to look at the microwave, she saw a man standing in her kitchen. Before she could react, he smiled and nodded his head to her as if to say 'thank you' and then he disappeared.
My cousin was later invited by the drivers family to go to the funeral. Due to the extensive facial damage, the casket was closed but on top, there rested a picture of the man she held while he died, the same man that appeared in her kitchen later that night.

Oregon Ghost Conference
Attending a ghost conference is an excellent way to meet other paranormal enthusiasts, learn the latest in ghost hunting equipment, attend fascinating investigations by the experts, and basically have a great time. Check out the Oregon Ghost Conference put on by Northwest Ghost Tours and Paranormal Insights on March 9-11, 2012 in Oregon City for more information.
Laurie London has heard one of the speakers, Scott Powers from Olympic Peninsula Paranormal Society, talk about the equipment and software programs recommended for ghost hunters. She found it very informative.
I'm unable to attend but wanted to get the word out. Do any of you plan to go?
